The system transformation in Eastern European countries took the place after the fall of the Berlin-Wall in 1989. The new liberal order has confronted a large majority with enormous challenges. Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighboring States were also captured by these processes, which left deep traces of socio-economic image in society.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been faced with several more critical problems since 1996 to the present day. On the one hand, the fundamental destruction of the economic system with direct losses at the production sites and the public infrastructure during the period 1992 to 1995 in the amount of more than 100 billion US dollars (source of the University of Vienna, Faculty of Human and Sciences, Institute for Science (2004) and The Financial Times (1995)).

On the other hand, the legal order was replaced by decree, without public and democratic discussion of the implications for the future of society and individuals. In this context, it is legitim to ask the question of the perspective of liberalism in BiH and its implications in relationship between individuals and the state.

We are talking about the problems and challenges of liberalism in BiH at the 18.12.2017 from 7 p.m., in the center of Karl der Grosse with political scientist and researcher from Oxford Dr. Adis Merdžanović, one of the best connoisseurs of these questions in Europe, if not in the world.

Public panel discussion: “The State, as the service of the individual? Prospects for a liberal Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Followed by an aperitif with a guest.
